When researchers assess kids’ fast food meals and conclude that the meals aren’t healthy, I have to ask myself, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. Do we not know that fast food is gross, unhealthy, greasy, lacks fiber and vitamins and in general BAD FOR US AND FOR OUR KIDS?
The researchers assessed the nutritional quality of kids’ meals offered by major fast food companies. Turns out, only three percent of the meals meet federal dietary guidelines for nutrient quality.
Anyone surprised?
Meals containing deli sandwiches with cheese, fruit and milk and bean burrito meals were somewhat better than chicken nuggets or burger type meals.
While most meals analyzed contained adequate protein and reasonable amounts of fat, many contained too much sodium and not enough iron and fiber.
SHOCKING.
According to the researchers, this research was needed because of obesity numbers and because nearly 25% of children aged four to eight eat fast food daily.

The data here is not at all shocking. What is shocking is that one quarter of (I’m assuming) American kids are eating fast food daily.
@ ZS: I agree! Shocking and sad.
